THE POWER OF MUSIC – PART 4

 MUSIC AND VALUES

 All music is inspired. I can’t overemphasize this truth and I don’t want you to ever forget it. Like I said before, the difference between the music inspired by God and the one inspired by the devil is the values that are propagated through the music. These values are evident in the words, attitudes and actions of the people that are exposed to them.

Consider the following words spoken by Jesus over 2,000 years ago,

 “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44-45. NIV)

So any music inspired by the devil will definitely promote murder, lies and other wrong values. No wonder why Bing Crosby said,

 “I figured that the only thing to do was to STEAL THEIR KIDS.  I still think it’s the only thing to do…. I’m not talking about kidnapping…but about CHANGING YOUNG PEOPLE’S VALUE SYSTEM”

 and Spencer Dryden of Jefferson Starship said,

 “Get them while they’re young and BEND THEIR MINDS.”

Amazingly, the devil doesn’t just inspire men to make music that will destroy lives; he also inspires men to set up the machinery to publicize them. Bob Pittman, Founder and former President of MTV outlined a simple two-point plan whereby MTV would be able to accomplish its objective of destroying young people’s value system through music. He said,

 “The strongest appeal you can make is emotionally. If you can GET THEIR EMOTIONS GOING, make them FORGET THEIR LOGIC, you’ve got them. AT MTV, WE DON’T SHOOT FOR THE 14-YEAR OLDS, WE OWN THEM”. (MTV is Rock Around the Clock, Philadelphia Inquirer, Nov. 3, 1982)

So the plan is simple: excite their emotions and make them forget logic. No wonder why drugs, sex, crime and violence are on the increase.

There’s one law that advertisers understand and utilize quite well – the Law of Repetition. It states that REPETITION IS THE KEY TO DEEP AND LASTING IMPRESSION. This is the principle behind DESENSITIZATION. Desensitization is the process through which people come to accept things that are morally wrong as right. It is often referred to as ‘Shock Value’ in entertainment.

There are four stages of the desensitization process:

1. Abhorrence: at this stage people are shocked and disgusted about the lyrics or the music video. But because the media understands human psychology, they play them repeatedly. This leads to the second stage
2. Tolerance: after listening to and watching the music for a while, you begin to lower your defenses and you say to yourself, “It’s not that bad after all.”
3.  Acceptance: by this time you’re at home with whatever wrong value it is that they want you to imbibe. You begin to see it as normal and even attack people that criticize it as being too rigid. This leads to the final stage.
4. Emulation: at this stage, you’ve not just accepted those values, you’re actually living them.

This is how nudity, sex, drugs and violence became a part of the American lifestyle.

Every musician is sent with a specific assignment and a specific message for their generation. Let’s look at some case studies.

 CASE STUDY 1: MADONNA

Madonna (known as the Queen of Pop), born Madonna Louise Ciccone on August 16, 1958 in Bay City, Michigan, United States of America, is a Singer-songwriter, record producer, dancer, actress, film producer, film director, fashion designer, author, entrepreneur. She found immense popularity by PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES OF LYRICAL CONTENT in mainstream popular music and imagery in her music videos, which became a fixture on MTV.

Madonna’s assignment is to promote immorality and sexual perversion. She admitted that she employs the law of repetition as a means to desensitize viewers to lesbianism. She said,

“They digest it on a lot of different levels. Some people will see it and be disgusted by it, but maybe they’ll be unconsciously aroused by it. IF PEOPLE KEEP SEEING IT AND SEEING IT AND SEEING IT, EVENTUALLY IT’S NOT GOING TO BE SUCH A STRANGE THING“ (The Advocate, May 7, 1991, pg.49)

After her debut in 1983, Madonna’s look and manner of dressing, her performances and her music videos gradually started influencing young girls and women. HER STYLE BECAME A FEMALE FASHION TREND OF THE 1980s. The look consisted of lace tops, skirts over capri pants, fishnet stockings, jewelry bearing the crucifix, bracelets, and bleached hair. She achieved global recognition after the release of her second studio album: Like a Virgin in 1984. It topped the charts in several countries and became her first number one album on the Billboard 200. The title track, “Like a Virgin“, topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for six consecutive weeks. It attracted the attention of organizations who complained that the song and its accompanying video promoted premarital sex and undermined family values, and moralists sought to have the song and video banned. She performed the song at the first MTV Video Music Awards where she appeared on stage atop a giant wedding cake, wearing a wedding dress and bridal veil, adorned with her characteristic “Boy Toy” belt buckle. The performance is noted by scholars and by MTV as an iconic performance in MTV history. In later years, Madonna recalled, “… It was the bravest, MOST BLATANT SEXUAL THING I had ever done on television.” Like a Virgin was certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America and sold more than 21 million copies worldwide. The National Association of Recording Merchandisers and Rock and Roll of Fame listed the album as one of the “Definitive 200 Albums of All Time” in 1998.

Commenting on her 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour, Madonna said,

“I know that I’m not the best singer and I know that I’m not the best dancer. But, I CAN {expletive} PUSH PEOPLE’S BUTTONS AND BE AS PROVOCATIVE AS I WANT. THE TOUR’S GOAL IS TO BREAK USELESS TABOOS.”

Rolling Stone called the tour an “elaborately choreographed, sexually provocative extravaganza” and proclaimed it “the best tour of 1990″. The tour was met with strong reaction from religious groups for her performance of “Like a Virgin”, during which two male dancers caressed her body before she simulated masturbation.

Academics noted that with her videos, Madonna was subtly reversing the usual role of male as the dominant sex.

Don Shewey from Rolling Stone wrote that

“Madonna is the most media-savvy American pop star since Bob Dylan and, until she toned down her press-baiting behavior in the nineties, she was the most consistently controversial one since Elvis Presley. Her self-celebrating dance music and outré videos provided feminism with a makeover. Throughout the eighties Madonna BROKE DOWN SEXUAL BOUNDARIES, making eroticism a crucial pop-song element, and CHALLENGING SOCIAL AND RELIGIOUS MORES… she exploited her sexuality to fashion herself into a cultural and commercial icon who, for more than a decade, was unchallenged as the reigning Queen of Pop music…”

Madonna’s use of shocking sexual imagery catalyzed public discourse on sexuality and feminism. She made immorality and sexual perversion a norm on the airwaves. The Times stated,

“Madonna… started a revolution amongst women in music … Her attitudes and opinions on SEX, NUDITY, STYLE and SEXUALITY forced the public to sit up and take notice.”

Rodger Streitmatter, author of Sex Sells! (2004), commented that

 ”from the moment Madonna burst onto the nation’s radar screen in the mid-1980s, she did everything in her power to SHOCK THE PUBLIC, and her efforts paid off.”

 Shmuel Boteach, author of Hating women (2005), felt that Madonna was largely responsible for erasing the line between music and pornography. He stated:

“Before Madonna, it was possible for women more famous for their voices than their cleavage, to emerge as music superstars. But in the post-Madonna universe, even highly original performers such as Janet Jackson now feel the pressure to expose their bodies on national television to sell albums.”

Madonna has influenced numerous music artists throughout her career. Mary Cross, in her book Madonna: A Biography, wrote:

“Her influence on pop music is undeniable and far-reaching. New pop icons from Nelly Furtado and Shakira to Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera (not to mention Britney Spears) owe Madonna, a debt of thanks for the template she forged, combining provocative sexiness and female power in her image, music, and lyrics.”

According to Fouz-Hernández, female pop performers such as Spears, the Spice Girls, Destiny’s Child, Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Minogue and Pink were like “Madonna’s daughters in the very direct sense that they grew up listening to and admiring Madonna, and decided they wanted to be like her.” Among them, Madonna’s influence was most notable in Spears, who has been called her protégé.

At the 2003 MTV VMA Awards, Madonna passionately kissed Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

The whole incident was actually a mock lesbian wedding. There was a “wedding chapel” in the set. Madonna was dressed as the butch lesbian, as she was in a tux with a top hat, and Britney and Christina were in the role as the more feminine lesbians. As Madonna stood at the top of a staircase waiting to walk down the aisle to Britney and Christina, the traditional wedding march began. It was after they met at the end of the isle and danced that they kissed one another to bring a climax to the wedding. This is a violation of God’s 7th Commandment – Value for Marriage. Remember when we talked about the Moral Code, any musician that is inspired by God will promote those values, but anyone that is inspired by the devil will attack those values. In the beginning, God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.

“The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.’ Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. BUT FOR ADAM NO SUITABLE HELPER WAS FOUND. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, He took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made A WOMAN from the rib He had taken out of the man, and He brought HER to the man. The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; SHE shall be called WOMAN, for SHE was taken out of man.” FOR THIS REASON A MAN WILL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND BE UNITED TO HIS WIFE, AND THEY WILL BECOME ONE FLESH. (Gen 2:18-24. NIV)

No one knows the purpose of a thing more than the one that made it. God designed sex to be enjoyed within the confines of marriage between a man and a woman.  If God intended marriage to be between people of the same sex, he wouldn’t have created them male and female in the beginning. Did you also notice in the above Scripture that Adam was not attracted to the animals that God sent to him? That’s because man was never created to mate with animals.

Look at what the Scripture says about homosexuality and lesbianism,

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another.THEY EXCHANGED THE TRUTH OF GOD FOR A LIE, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator — who is forever praised. Amen.

Because of this, God gave them over to SHAMEFUL LUSTS. Even their women exchanged NATURAL RELATIONS for UNNATURAL ones. In the same way the men also abandoned NATURAL RELATIONS WITH WOMEN and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed INDECENT ACTS with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He gave them over to a DEPRAVED MIND, to do what ought not to be done.They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:20-32.NIV)

These things are not new; they’re just being reinvented and magnified by people like Madonna and MTV. And really, they might seem to be getting away with it but they’re not. Consider the following words from Jude,

“Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to CONTEND FOR THE FAITH THAT WAS ONCE FOR ALL ENTRUSTED TO THE SAINTS. For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who CHANGE THE GRACE OF OUR GOD INTO A LICENSE FOR IMMORALITY and DENY JESUS CHRIST our only Sovereign and Lord. And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home — these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. IN A SIMILAR WAY, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as AN EXAMPLE of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. In the very same way, these DREAMERS pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings. (Jude 3-5, 6-9. NIV)

 Homosexuals and lesbians say that it’s not their ‘sexual preference’ but their ‘sexual orientation’; claiming that God made them that way. That is to say that God is confused about the purpose and design of His product, which is very far from the truth. WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO?

The lyrics you just read are from the song, “The Beast Within” which is a remix of the song, “Justify My Love”, by Madonna and Lenny Kravitz. It uses only the chorus and certain lines of the original song, with the verses being replaced by passages from the Book of Revelation. “The Beast Within” was showcased as a dancers’ interlude during Madonna’s 1993 The Girlie Show World Tour and was used again as the video introduction to her 2004 Re-Invention World Tour.

The original song, ‘Justify My Love’ was the first single from her 1990 greatest hits compilation The Immaculate Collection and was released on November 6, 1990, by Sire Records. The album was certified diamond by RIAA and sold over 30 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling compilation album by a solo artist in history. The accompanying music video was so sexually explicit that it was even banned by MTV. Madonna responded to the banning:

“Why is it that people are willing to go and watch a movie about someone getting blown to bits for no reason at all, and nobody wants to see two girls kissing and two men snuggling? [...] MTV has been good to me, and they know their audience. If it’s too strong for them, I understand. Although, half of me thought I was going to get away with it.”

It was also released as a video-single and became the highest selling video single of all time. When released, the single rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 (her ninth number one) and many other worldwide charts. It made number two in the UK Christmas charts, selling 228,683 copies. The song was unique in that Madonna’s vocals are primarily spoken and whispered, but almost never sung. This style served as a prelude to her next album Erotica, in which she spoke the lyrics on some of the songs rather than singing them. During the concerts of her “Confessions” world tour in 2006, Madonna appears crucified on a mirrored cross while wearing a crown of thorns. In an e-mail to The Associated Press on Thursday, August 3, 2006, Madonna’s New York-based spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg, said:

 ”Madonna does not think Jesus would be mad at her, as his teaching of loving thy neighbor and tolerance is Madonna’s message as well. I’m in a land that they call Down Under…
Ain’t nobody’s gonna steal my thunder!
I’m in a land where they say G’day!
Ain’t nobody’s gonna stand in my way!
I’m gonna beat my drums…
I’m gonna ring my bell…
And I DON’T GIVE A DAMN IF I GO TO HELL!

In case you don’t understand how much influence this woman wields and how many people she’s dragging to hell on a daily basis, let me give you an idea.

Madonna has sold more than 300 million records worldwide and is recognized as the world’s top-selling female recording artist of all time by the Guinness World Records. According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), she is the best-selling female rock artist of the 20th century and the second top-selling female artist in the United States, behind Barbra Streisand, with 64 million certified albums. In 2008, Billboard magazine ranked Madonna at number two, behind only The Beatles, on the Billboard Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists, making her the most successful solo artist in the history of the Billboard chart. She was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the same year. She is considered to be one of the “25 Most Powerful Women of the Past Century” by Time for being an influential figure in contemporary music. Madonna ended the 2000s as the best-selling singles artist of the decade in the United States. She was also named the most-played artist of the decade in the United Kingdom. Madonna has been honored with record-breaking 20 MTV Video Music Awards, including the lifetime achievement “Video Vanguard Award” in 1986 for her contributions to the world of music video. In July 2003, she ranked seventh on VH1 and People magazine’s list of the “200 Greatest Pop Culture Icons of All Time.” This woman is being rewarded for corrupting people’s value system.

Dear reader, your life is so precious to God that He sent me to give you this warning. I show you the words of these musicians because I want you to hear it from their own mouth. These people mean business; they intend to drag as many people as they can along with them into hell. You have the opportunity to make peace with God now that you’re alive. Jesus said,

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. (Rev 3:20. NIV)

Will you open up your heart right now to the one that loves you enough to die on the cross for you so that you will not end up in hell; or will you reject Him and embrace the enemy of your soul? If you want to accept Jesus as your Saviour, please click on the ‘Salvation Prayer’ at the top and follow the instructions. If you are already saved, stay away from people like Madonna, they’re out to damn your soul.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. (Prov 14:12 .NIV)

MUSIC AND THE SUPERNATURAL

All music is inspired. Music making did not just come to man as a human creation or invention, but as discovery and inspiration.

 Joseph Kerman, an American critic and musicologist (one of the leading musicologists of his generation), in his book ‘Listen’, quoted Hoffmann as saying,

 “Is not music the mysterious language of a distant realm of spirits, whose lovely sounds re-echo in our soul and awaken a higher, more intensive life?”(pg. 242)

 According to Kerman,

 “The association of music and the supernatural has been the rule, not the exception.”

(pg. 264)

 Music vibrates through the body, transcends the mind and transports one into realms of supernatural experiences (pg. 47)

 

 MUSIC AND VALUES

 All music is inspired either by God or by the devil. You can tell the difference by the VALUES that are being propagated through the music. If it’s inspired by God, it will convey Godly values; but if it’s inspired by the devil, it will carry worldly values.

Every manufacturer has an operational manual and operational guideline for his product. Likewise, God (our manufacturer) has operational guidelines for His product (man). He gave us a set of values popularly known as the Moral Code to guide us; following these guidelines creates strong societies that are EMOTIONALLY STRONG and FREE OF CRIME. They are absolute standards of morality that cannot be altered as is convenient. They are:

1. Value for Faith and God (Thou shall not have any other god)
2. Value for Worship & Religion (Thou shall not worship idols or graven images)
3. Respect for Covenants/ Contracts (Thou shall not take the name of God in vain)
4. Value for Holy Day (Remember the Sabbath day – work 6days, rest 1day)
5. Respect for Authority (Honour Your Father & Mother)
6. Value for Life (Thou Shall Not Kill)
7. Value for Marriage (Thou Shall Not Commit Adultery)
8. Value for Property (Thou Shall Not Steal)
9. Value for Integrity & Truth (Thou Shall Not Bear False Witness)
10. Value for Contentment (Thou Shall Not Covet Thy Neighbour’s Goods)

Any music that is inspired by God will definitely promote these values. But any music inspired by the devil will attack these values and promote their opposite.

EXAMPLES OF DIVINELY INSPIRED MUSICIANS

George Frideric Handel completed the music for ‘Messiah’ in 24 days of swift composition. At the end of his manuscript Handel wrote the letters “SDG”—Soli Deo Gloria, “To God alone the glory”. This inscription, taken with the speed of composition, has encouraged belief in the apocryphal story that Handel wrote the music in a fervour of divine inspiration in which, as he wrote the “Hallelujah” chorus, “he saw all heaven before him”. Handel’s Messiah has been described by the early-music scholar Richard Luckett as “a commentary on [Jesus Christ's] Nativity, Passion, Resurrection and Ascension”, beginning with God’s promises as spoken by the prophets and ending with Christ’s glorification in heaven. King David, the ancient Israeli shepherd boy turned king, said,

 ”The oracle of David son of Jesse,

the oracle of the man EXALTED BY THE MOST HIGH,

the man ANOINTED BY THE GOD OF JACOB,

ISRAEL’S SINGER OF SONGS

“THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD SPOKE THROUGH ME;

HIS WORD WAS ON MY TONGUE.

The God of Israel spoke,

the Rock of Israel said to me:

‘When one rules over men in righteousness,

when he rules in the fear of God,

he is like the light of morning at sunrise

on a cloudless morning,

like the brightness after rain

that brings the grass from the earth.’

(2 Samuel 23:1-4. NIV)

 

Kerman said,

“The early History of western music was determined by the Christian church to an extent that is not easy for us to grasp today. THE CHURCH CULTIVATED, SUPPORTED, AND DIRECTED MUSIC as it did art, architecture, poetry and learning. ALL COMPOSERS WERE IN HOLY ORDER AND ALL MUSICIANS GOT THEIR TRAINING AS CHURCH CHOIRBOYS.” (pg. 46)

 The question is this: if the church cultivated, supported and directed early western music, why does the church seem irrelevant in the field of entertainment now? How come the church has lost quite a number of people to the devil through entertainment? Jesus tells us why,

 ”The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But WHILE EVERYONE WAS SLEEPING, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.

(Matt 13:24-26. NIV)

“The one who sowed the good seed is the SON OF MAN. The field is THE WORLD, and the good seed stands for the SONS OF THE KINGDOM. The weeds are the SONS OF THE EVIL ONE, and the enemy who sows them is THE DEVIL.

(Matt 13:37-39. NIV)

 So while the church was sleeping – singing, clapping and dancing in church, neglecting the society they once reached – the devil was busy sowing his sons in the same field that was controlled by the sons of God. Something has gone terribly wrong with the training curriculum in the church. That explains why even some entertainers that were trained in the church end up helping the devil destroy lives.

 

EXAMPLES OF UNGODLY MUSICIANS

Let’s start with the Rock Stars

According to the book, Satanism in America, which is endorsed by the National Criminal Justice Task Force on Occult Related Ritualistic Crimes, hard-core Satanism is “THE FASTEST-GROWING SUBCULTURE AMONG AMERICA’S TEENS.”

Studies taken by the Georgia Police Academy revealed that 90% of those involved in Satanism are TEENAGERS!

Television personality, Geraldo Rivera, who explored the terrifying rise of Satanism said, “It exists AND IT’S FLOURISHING. IT IS TEENAGERS who are most likely to fall under the spell of Satanism.”

 

 Elvis Presley believed he had a twin that communicated with him spiritually. In the Angel Times magazine, a childhood friend of Elvis states that Elvis communicated with beings as a child. These beings had showed Elvis a vision of dancing, and of people “dressed in white with colors all around.”

John Lennon of the Beatles, the Rock n Roll legend said,

“It’s amazing that the tune to ‘In My Life’ just came to me in a dream. That’s why I don’t profess to know anything. I THINK MUSIC IS VERY MYSTICAL”. (Source: John Lennon “The Beatles Come Together”, Reader’s Digest, March 2001)

 “I felt like a hollow temple filled with many spirits, each passing through me, each inhabiting me, for a little time and then leaving me to be replaced by another”. (Source: John Lennon, People, Aug 22, 1988, pg. 70)

Paul McCartney said,

“The music to ‘Yesterday’ came in a dream. The tune just came complete. You have to believe in magic. I CAN’T READ OR WRITE MUSIC”

In Smash Hits magazine, Bon Jovi says: “. . . I’d kill my mother for rock and roll.  I WOULD SELL MY SOUL.”

 Robert Plant and Jimmy Page of LED ZEPPELIN both claim that they don’t know who wrote their occultic song “Stairway to Heaven”. Plant testified:

“Pagey had written the chords and played them for me. I was holding the paper and pencil, and for some reason, I was in a very bad mood. Then all of a sudden my hand was writing out words. … I just sat there and looked at the words and then I almost leaped out of my seat”

Stevie Nicks of FLEETWOOD MAC said,

“It’s amazing, ’cause sometimes when we’re on stage, I feel like somebody’s just moving the pieces… I’m just going, ‘God, we don’t have any control over this.’ And that’s magic”

Angus Young, lead guitarist for AC-DC, called the “guitar demon” said,

“…it’s like I’m on automatic pilot. By the time we’re halfway through the first number someone else is steering me. I’m just along for the ride. I become possessed when I get on stage”

Marc Storace, vocalist with heavy-metal band KROKUS:

“You can’t describe it [playing rock music] except to say it’s like A MYSTERIOUS ENERGY that comes from the metaphysical plane and into my body. IT’S ALMOST LIKE BEING A MEDIUM….”

“ROCK HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE DEVIL’S MUSIC, you can’t convince me that it isn’t. I honestly believe everything I’ve said—I BELIEVE ROCK AND ROLL IS DANGEROUS. … I FEEL THAT WE’RE ONLY HERALDING SOMETHING EVEN DARKER THAN OURSELVES”

Jimmi Hendrix said,

“I can explain everything better through music. You HYPNOTIZE people…. And when you get people at their weakest point YOU CAN PREACH into the SUBCONSCIOUS what we want to say. That’s why the name “electric church” flashes in and out”

Jimi Hendrix girlfriend, Fayne Pridgon, said:

“He used to always talk about some devil or something was in him, you know. He didn’t know what made him act the way he acted and what made him say the things he said, and the songs and different things like that … just came out of him. It seems to me he was so tormented and just torn apart and like he really was OBSESSED, you know, WITH SOMETHING REALLY EVIL”

Rocker Frank Zappa proudly boasted:

“I’M THE DEVIL’S ADVOCATE. WE HAVE OUR OWN WORSHIPPERS WHO ARE CALLED ‘GROUPIES.’ GIRLS WILL GIVE THEIR BODIES TO MUSICIANS AS YOU WOULD GIVE A SACRIFICE TO A GOD.”

In the cover song, “The Prince”, Metallica openly sing:

“Angel from below . . .
I WISH TO SELL MY SOUL . . .
DEVIL TAKE MY SOUL
with diamonds you repay I don’t care for heaven
so don’t you look for me to cry
AND I WILL BURN IN HELL from the day I die.”

 

In the song “Jump In the Fire”, Metallica commands young people to jump into hell:

“Follow me now my child . . .
DO JUST AS I SAY . . .
Jump by your will or be taken by force I’ll get you either way . . .
So reach down grab my hand walk with me through the land
COME HOME WHERE YOU BELONG
So come on JUMP IN THE FIRE.”

Rock star, Marilyn Manson, proudly boasts:

“Hopefully, I’ll be remembered as the person who brought an end to Christianity.”

(Spin, August 1996, p. 34)

Manson, an ordained “reverend” in the Church of Satan, mutilates himself on stage, rips-up the Holy Bible, and spews “blasphemies” against the Lord Jesus Christ.

Manson’s T-Shirts declare,

“KILL YOUR PARENTS“

 and

 “I LOVE SATAN“

Manson claims his album Antichrist Superstar came via “supernatural-inspiration”:

“I heard this album as finished, I heard it in dreams . . . It was like the revelations of John the Baptist or something.” (huH, Oct. 1996, p.34)

Manson’s “hope” for Antichrist Superstar:

“I think every time people listen to this new album MAYBE GOD WILL BE DESTROYED IN THEIR HEADS. . .”

 I DON’T KNOW IF ANYONE HAS REALLY UNDERSTOOD WHAT WE’RE TRYING TO DO. THIS ISN’T JUST ABOUT SHOCK VALUE . . . THAT’S JUST THERE TO LURE THE PEOPLE IN.  ONCE WE’VE GOT EM WE CAN GIVE EM OUR MESSAGE.”

Manson admits his childhood longing for Satan:

“My mom used to tell me when I was a kid, If you curse at nighttime, the devil’s going to come to you when you’re sleeping.  I used to get excited because I really wanted it to happen . . . I wanted it.  I wanted it more than anything . . .”

As a child, he attended his mother’s Episcopalian church, though his father was Catholic.

Manson said,

“As a performer, I wanted to be the loudest, most persistent alarm clock I could be, because THERE DIDN’T SEEM LIKE ANY OTHER WAY TO SNAP SOCIETY OUT OF ITS CHRISTIANITY….”

 “No matter what time the doctor [Anton LaVey] called for me and where he summoned me to, I planned to be there. I admired and respected him. We had a lot of things in common…In short, WE HAD BOTH DEDICATED THE BETTER PART OF OUR LIVES TO TOPPLING CHRISTIANITY…”

Twisted Sister sings, “Burn in Hell”:

“Welcome to the abandoned land

YOU’RE GONNA BURN IN HELL!”

The group ‘Suicidal Tendencies’, whose songs glorify suicide and have been linked to teen suicides, reveal a frightening truth in the song “Possessed”:

“I’M A PRISONER OF A DEMON . . .
It stays with me wherever I go
I can’t break away from its hold
This must be my punishment FOR SELLING MY SOUL!”

In the song “The Conjuring” by Megadeth, the real mission of rock is clearly heard:

“I am The Devil’s Advocate

A Salesman, if you will . . .
Come join me in my INFERNAL DEPTHS . . .
I’ve got your soul!”

At the end of the song they chant “OBEY”!

 

“Rock concerts are the churches of today.” (Guitarist Craig Chaquico of the rock group ‘Jefferson Starship.’)

 

The group Morbid Angel, sings in “Vengeance in Mine”:

“Mote it be Satan’s sword I have become . . .
I burn with hate
TO RID THE WORLD OF THE NAZARENE!”

And to commit the ultimate blasphemy they sing in the song “Blasphemy”:

 ”Chant the blasphemy Mockery of the Messiah
WE CURSE THE HOLY GHOST . . .
Blaspheme the Ghost
BLASPHEMY OF THE HOLY GHOST.”

Trey Azagthoh of Morbid Angel claims to be a REAL vampire, and while playing onstage he actually bites himself and then drinks his own blood!

 

 

Pink Floyd sings, in the song “Sheep”,

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want . . .
With bright knives he RELEASETH MY SOUL
He maketh me to hang on hooks in high places . . .
For lo, he hath great power and GREAT HUNGER.”

 

 

The song “Sympathy for the Devil” by The Rolling Stones, is the official anthem for the Church of Satan.

One of the most popular groups in rock history Slayer, sing of themselves, as:

“Warriors from the gates of hell . . .
In lord Satan we trust.”

Slayer’s albums sell in the millions!  Their song “Hell Awaits” says:

“Jesus knows your soul cannot be saved
CRUCIFY THE SO CALLED LORD
He soon shall fall to me
Your souls are damned
Your God has fell to slave for me eternally

Hell awaits.”

 The beginning of their song “Hell Awaits” contains an obvious backwards message. When played forward, nothing but garbled noise is heard, but when played backwards you hear the real message “JOIN US, JOIN US, JOIN US” over and over! (This is called Backward Masking, we’ll look at it in details later).

 

The group Venom reveal the real reason for their music, as they sing:

“We’re not here to entertain you . . .

I PREACH THE WAYS OF SATAN

Answer to his calls!”

 

In their song “Possessed”, they sing:

“I am possessed by all that is evil

The death of your God, I demand . . .

AND SIT AT LORD SATAN’S LEFT HAND!”

 BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU LISTEN TO!!!

You might be telling yourself, “Well, at least I don’t listen to Rock music.” Wait until I get to Hip-hop, Pop and R&B – THE DEVIL HAS MEN IN ALL GENRES OF MUSIC. And if you have been listening to some filthy songs, get down on your knees right now, repent and ask God for forgiveness.

Look at what the Bible says about such people,

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the GODLESSNESS and WICKEDNESS of MEN WHO SUPPRESS THE TRUTH BY THEIR WICKEDNESS, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. You can now see the cause of the moral decadence in western nations.

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THESE SONGS, THEY FILL YOU WITH SO MUCH FILTH. Obey the instructions that God gave Joshua,

Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your MOUTH; MEDITATE ON IT DAY AND NIGHT, so that you may BE CAREFUL TO DO everything written in it. Then you will be PROSPEROUS and SUCCESSFUL.

Apostle Paul tells us what we should be focusing on,

Finally, brothers, whatever is TRUE, whatever is NOBLE, whatever is RIGHT, whatever is PURE, whatever is LOVELY, whatever is ADMIRABLE — if anything is EXCELLENT or PRAISEWORTHY — THINK ABOUT SUCH THINGS. Whatever you have LEARNED or RECEIVED or HEARD from me, or SEEN in me — PUT IT INTO PRACTICE. And the God of peace will be with you.

In other words, study and meditate on the Word of God. Fill that your ipod, iphone, mp3 player or any other mobile player with worship songs, good Christian songs (be sure of the author – not everybody that bears the title ‘Christian’ is a Christian) and anointed messages that will build you up.

THE POWER OF MUSIC PART 2

 As I mentioned in Part 1, every music is inspired. Just as God inspires people to compose and sing songs, Satan also inspires his agents to compose and sing songs. You can tell the songs that the devil inspires by the kind of values that they propagate.

The level of moral decay that has occurred in the USA, the UK and Europe over the years – the rise in Satanism, occultism, atheism, immorality, sexual perversion, murder, suicide, teenage pregnancy, alcohol and drug abuse, crime, rebellion etc – stems from the wrong values that have been propagated through music over the years. The riots that occurred in the UK recently are a harvest of the seeds of wrong values that had been sown into the lives of the young people for years.

Money and mineral resources are not a true measure of the real wealth of a nation. The real wealth of a nation is the MORAL FABRIC and the VALUE SYSTEM of her people – as revealed in the streets of their market places. MEN AND NATIONS ARE NOT GREAT BY THE VIRTUE OF THEIR WEALTH, BUT BY THE WEALTH OF THEIR VIRTUES.

Alexis De Tocqueville, a French Political Philosopher who came to the United States of America in the 1830’s in search of her greatness, after a thorough examination concluded:

 “I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her commodious harbours and her ample rivers, and it was not there; I sought for the greatness in her fertile fields and boundless prairies, and it was not there; in her rich mines and vast world commerce, and it was not there.

NOT UNTIL I WENT TO THE CHURCHES OF AMERICA AND HEARD HER PULPITS AFLAME WITH RIGHTEOUSNESS DID I UNDERSTAND THE SECRET OF HER GENIUS AND POWER.

AMERICA IS GREAT BECAUSE SHE IS GOOD AND IF AMERICA EVER CEASES TO BE GOOD, AMERICA WILL CEASE TO BE GREAT.”

In other words, De Tocqueville was saying that a civil government and society will not work without the people being virtuous, which is a product of the influence of the church. The church and the clergy should not only train people concerning their spiritual duties, but also train them to apply biblical truth to all areas of life. Over 180 years later, history has proven him right.

There are three major institutions that God established to ensure that His value systems are thought and reinforced:

1.      The Family

2.      The Church

3.      The Educational Systems (the Schools)

So it’s no surprise that these institutions are the major targets of the devil.

In her book, “Prepare to Meet Your God”, Angelica Zambrano (a young Ecuadorian girl that was taken to heaven and hell by Jesus) narrated how she saw Selena in hell. She narrated,

 “She (Selena) saw me and said, ‘Please, I beg you, go tell people about this, please speak out and do not be silent; go and tell them not to come to this place; GO AND TELL THEM NOT TO LISTEN TO MY SONGS, NOR SING MY SONGS.’”

“So I asked her, ‘Why do you want me to go and say that?’ And she answered,

‘Because every time people sing and listen to my songs, I am tormented even more, THE PERSON WHO DOES THIS, WHO SINGS AND LISTENS TO MY SONGS, IS WALKING TO THIS PLACE. Please, go tell them not to come here; go tell them that hell is real!’”

 In case you don’t know who Selena is, she was born Selena Quintanilla-Perez on April 16, 1971 in Texas, USA. A singer-songwriter, record producer, actress, dancer, model and designer; she was named the “Top Latin Artist of the 90s” and “Best Selling Latin Artist of the Decade” by Billboard, for her fourteen top-ten singles in the Top Latin Songs Chart, including seven number-one hits. She was called “The Queen of Tejano Music” and the Mexican equivalent of Madonna. She released her first album at the age of 12 and won Female Vocalist of the Year at the 1987 Tejano Music Awards. In 1993, Selena won her first Grammy Award in the category “Best Mexican-American Album”. She was murdered at the age of 23 (March 31, 1995) by the president of her Fan Club. Her death reactions were compared to those of Elvis Presley and John Lennon. On April 12, 1995, two weeks after her death, George W. Bush, governor of Texas at the time, declared her birthday “Selena Day” in Texas. Angelica continued,

“I looked all over that area, it was full of singers and artists who have died. All they did was sing and sing, they wouldn’t stop singing. Jesus told me that many famous people were walking to that place, famous and important people. Take for example, Michael Jackson. This man was famous all over the world but he was a Satanist. Although many people may not see it that way, but it is the truth. This man had Satanic covenants: He came to agreement with the devil in order to achieve fame and attract many fans. THOSE STEPS THAT HE PERFORMED, THAT’S THE WAY I SAW DEMONS WALK WHILE TORMENTING PEOPLE IN HELL. THEY WOULD SLIDE BACKWARD AND NOT MOVE FORWARD, WHILE THEY SHOUT; ENJOYING THE ANGUISH THEY IMPOSE UPON THE PEOPLE. LET ME TELL YOU THAT MICHAEL JACKSON IS IN HELL. The Lord showed him to me after Michael died. He let me see Michael Jackson tormented in flames. I cried to Jesus, ‘Why?’ It wasn’t easy to see how this man was being tormented and how he would scream. ANYONE WHO LISTENS TO MICHAEL JACKSON’S SONGS OR SINGS THEM OR WHO IS A FAN OF MICHAEL JACKSON, I WARN YOU THAT SATAN IS TRAPPING YOU IN HIS WEB SO THAT YOU WILL END UP IN HELL. Right now, renounce it in the name of Jesus! Jesus wants to set you free, so that you will not be lost.”

It is very obvious that the devil has launched an assault on these major institutions that are supposed to be the custodians of Godly values in the society, and his number one tool is ENTERTAINMENT – especially MUSIC. That is why I am raising this awareness. USA and UK were destroyed by the music industry and Hollywood, and Nigeria will be destroyed by the music industry and Nollywood if we don’t do something about it.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU LISTEN TO; and if you’re a Christian called into the entertainment industry, do not help the devil destroy our societal values. Instead, ensure that you’re pushing out sound moral values through your songs.

The angels were singing praise and worship while God was creating the earth,

And THEY SANG A NEW SONG… Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice:

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive POWER and RICHES and WISDOM, and STRENGTH and HONOUR and GLORY and BLESSING!”

And EVERY CREATURE and all that are in them, I heard saying

BLESSING and HONOUR and GLORY and POWER be to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, FOREVER and EVER.”                      (NKJV)

In the verse above, John records the coronation of Jesus after He rose from the dead. And we can see that the whole creation worshipped Him through music.

2. The presence of God can be brought into a place through music.

2 Chron 5:11-14  “The priests then withdrew from the Holy Place. All the priests who were there had consecrated themselves, regardless of their divisions. All the Levites who were musicians — Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives — stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets. The trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the Lord. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, they RAISED THEIR VOICES IN PRAISE to the Lord and SANG:

“He is good; His love endures forever.”

 Then the temple of the Lord was filled with a cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for THE GLORY OF THE LORD FILLED THE TEMPLE OF GOD.”  (NIV)

3. Music also can also bring the presence of God upon a person

2 Kings 3:15         “But now bring me a harpist.” While the harpist was playing, the hand of the Lord came upon Elisha. NIV

4. God is a Spirit, and if His presence can be invoked through music, then other spirits can also be invoked through music into a place or upon a person. Your mood and the atmosphere around you can be conditioned by the kind of music you play.

5. Music is a pivotal part of worship. There is no religion or culture that does not have music as an essential part of the worship of what they believe in.

 

THE ORIGIN OF WORLDLY MUSIC

Lucifer was created as a worship leader in heaven. He was created with all manner of instruments of music just to worship God, but he fell from grace with all his musical endowment.

Ezek 28:11-17            …‘Thus says the Lord God: “You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering…The workmanship of your TIMBRELS and PIPES was prepared for you on the day you were created. “You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones. You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, till iniquity was found in you…You became filled with violence within, and you sinned; Therefore I cast you as a profane thing out of the mountain of God; And I destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the fiery stones.  “YOUR HEART WAS LIFTED UP BECAUSE OF YOUR BEAUTY; YOU CORRUPTED YOUR WISDOM FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR SPLENDOR; I cast you to the ground (earth)… NKJV

Isa 14:12-14    “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, you who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I WILL ascend into heaven, I WILL exalt my throne above the stars (angels) of God; I WILL also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I WILL ascend above the heights of the clouds, I WILL BE LIKE THE MOST HIGH.’ NKJV

The same thing that got Satan kicked out of God’s service in heaven is what he seeks on earth today: WORSHIP. Having been in God’s service, Satan understands the role and power of music; so he is using it to influence the youths so as to take their hearts away from the worship of the Lord.

 

EVERY MUSIC IS INSPIRED

Just as God inspires people to compose and sing songs, Satan also inspires his agents to compose and sing songs. The heart of an author always follows his music.

1 Sam 16:23  And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that DAVID TOOK A HARP, AND PLAYED WITH HIS HAND: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, AND THE EVIL SPIRIT DEPARTED FROM HIM.

Note that the above Scripture does not record that David sang; he just played instrumentals. So, if an evil spirit can be played out of a person, an evil spirit can also be played into a person. Just because a music is melodious, well composed and beautifully arranged is not enough excuse for its endorsement. The question is this: “WHAT IS THE SPIRIT BACKING THE MUSIC.”

Kevin Thornton of ‘Color Me Badd’ became possessed by 42 demons through music. He confessed that the song, ‘I Wanna Sex You Up’ caused over a 100, 000 girls in the USA to lose their virginity.

What gave rise to the rebellion of Satan in heaven was SELF, so you can always identify the songs he inspires because they are always about self exaltation, selfishness, self centeredness, rebellion and wrong values (especially immorality,drugs and violence). Any musician that is inspired by Satan will exhibit the same traits of selfishness, self exaltation and wrong values.
